2011 RESERVE SHIRAZ. Hand harvested grapes from an historic, low cropping, dry grown, 40 plus year old vineyard.
Destemmed, crushed and then transferred to small fermenters prior to pressing into extremely high quality French oak puncheons for maturation.
The stunning nose shows the depth and power of this wine.
The palate is long and soft with intense red plum and black berry fruits in balance with the smokiness from the French oak puncheons in which it was matured until bottling in November 2012.
This wine is from a very, very, good year for Hunter Shiraz.
With over 7 years in bottle it is showing the real benefits of cellaring with its characteristic Hunter traits of softness and earthiness.
Drink now ( decant for one hour at least) or until 2030 and beyond.
