Mistletoe Sculpture Prize 2011
Friday September 30th saw the judging completed and the Mistletoe Sculpture Prize 2011 awarded.
We had a short list of over 15 entries and it was tough choice to determine the winner in the end.
Our judges, retired Emeritus Professor of Sculpture at Newcastle University, Vlase Nikoleski, and Braddon Snape, lecturer in sculpture at NewcastleTAFE, also assisted us greatly in getting the exhibition and the award together.
We thank them sincerely for their input and their valuable time.
The prize, commencing 2012, will become an annual event with entries opening March 1st 2012 and the judging and award taking place on the Friday of the October long weekend.
The winner of the $8000 2011 prize was Central Coast sculptor, Col Henry with his entry “ Talking Heads”(see below).

All of the entries remain at Mistletoe on exhibition and for sale until January 31st 2012.
During that 3 month period we are holding a “ Vox Populi” or People’s Choice vote.
Members of the public visiting Mistletoe are given a voting slip and a list of the sculptures and encouraged to make their nomination for the award.
The votes will be tallied at the end of January and a $1000 prize going to the sculptor whose work attracted the most votes during the 3 month period.
If you know someone who is a sculptor who may wish to be considered for the 2012 Award please ask them to register their interest by contacting either Gwen or Cassandra at Mistletoe.
