2011 Christmas News
Welcome to the Mistletoe Winery Christmas newsletter for 2011. Where can we start???
Awards & Accolades.
Mistletoe Reserve Chardonnay 2009 – NSW Wine of the Year! NSW Wine of the Year! Selected from over 800 entries – who would have thought that!
Monday October 17th we were invited to attend the NSW Wine Awards Dinner which was held at Guillame Restaurant at the Sydney Opera House. We were advised at the time of the invitation that we had won theTrophy for Best Young Chardonnay at the Awards.
The organizers do this as a matter of course as theTrophy winning wines are served at the presentation dinner. The news regarding our Trophy was embargoed until all the trophies were awarded at the dinner.
What we were not prepared for was to be awarded another Trophy for “NSW Wine of the Year”. It was absolutely amazing to receive such a prestigious accolade for our wine.
Two days after we received the NSW Wine Award Trophies we were contacted by Winestate Magazine who informed us that the very same wine had been selected as one of the Top 5 Chardonnays in Australia for 2011. Winestate requested our presence in Adelaide for the Winestate Wine of the Year award.
At these awards the Mistletoe Reserve Chardonnay 2009 was awarded the Trophy for Winestate Australian Chardonnay of the Year 2011. Absolutely amazing!
These two major awards cap off a fantastic year for all of us at Mistletoe. In the past few months our wines have been awarded 4 Championships, 8Trophies, 9 Gold medals, 9 Silver medals and 24 bronze medals.
In addition to this we had 12 wines rated over 90 points by James Halliday in the Australian Wine Companion 2012 with the Mistletoe Reserve Shiraz receiving a 97 point rating and placing it in the top 11 Shiraz in Australia.
The thing that we find most satisfying is that our wines have performed right across our range, not just one variety. As we have said before, the best thing for you, our valued customers, is that these very same award winning wines are available for you to purchase direct from Mistletoe.
Christmas Cheer!
The 2011 Mistletoe Mozcato is the best we have made so far.It is an absolutely delicious wine that could be very easily confused for an Italian Moscato D’Asti.
Light in body and alcohol (just 6.5%) it is fresh lively and crisp in the mouth with stacks of fantastic fruit flavours that linger on the palate.
It is so good we decided to bottle two different batches!
The first is the Mistletoe Mozcato 2011 with its newly revamped label and the second version is called Christmas Cheer Mozcato.
It is a perfect drink for Summer and the Festive Season ahead and will make a fantastic Chritmas gift for that special person in your life.
Why not order some now and see how good it is?
Vineyard News
We experienced a warm dry start to Spring with budburst coming back to nearly normal in early September. Since then we have had really good rainfall, but, importantly, not too much.
However the temperatures have been on the cool side so far and everything is now just starting to hit their growing best, a little later than usual.
The Valley and our vineyard is to die for this year! It is a real pleasure to see everything so green. Late in the afternoon we go for a wander around the vines. It is a calming sedative after a long and busy day.
Our roses at the ends of the vinerows are in full bloom with Gwen filling vases in the cellar door first thing every morning. Great time of the year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Gwen, Ken and all the crew from Mistletoe wish you all the very best for this upcoming holiday season!
